R.I.P. 4.6 Cobra and 7.3 PowerStroke.

A reliable source at Ford Motor Company is alleging that Ford Motor Company has decided to discontinue both the Cobra 4.6 and 7.3 PowerStroke Diesel engines. Earlier this month, BlueOvalNews reported that Ford was considering the fate of the Cobra's 4.6 engine <here> and that Ford was going to introduce a baby diesel engine <here>. As soon as positive confirmation can be made through Ford documentation, we'll post the actual Ford internal documents and more.

It's not clear why Ford would allegedly discontinue the 4.6 Cobra; although, consumers have often been critical of its performance and the failure of the 1999 Cobra's 4.6 engine only further adds to the speculation.

A Ford truck engineer familiar with the next generation PowerStroke diesel engine has confirmed our first source as being correct - Ford will kill off the 7.3l engine.
