MICHIGAN PROVING GROUND features over 100 miles of on-site road systems, 28 computer controlled chassis dynos (6 with high speed capability), crosswind testing (Mark VIII photo), the most advanced anechoic chamber in the world for EMC testing, engineering support and test support including a full machine shop, instrumentation shop and five fully equipped 80' x 250' garage bays (photo). These combined facilities help Ford development engineers test and evaluate vehicles on the road and in controlled environments that simulate customer experiences.

ROAD SYSTEMS INCLUDE:

• 5 mile, 5 lane oval high speed track

• Ride and handling circuit

• Hillclimb and grade route

• Cobblestone and impact testing (photo)

• High speed salt bath

• Off road 4 x 4 area

• 7 miles of gravel road

• Various test grades from 7% to 60%

• Heavy truck splash and spray.

On board data acquisition systems and computerized data reduction, plus audio/visual photo-phone communication and 24-hour operation make MPG a world class field data source.
