What's Ford and Yamaha working on? |
||||
|
BlueOvalNews was recently tipped off that Yamaha engineers have been frequently seen around Ford's Experimental Engine Lab here in Dearborn. But just what is Yamaha up to?
Yamaha and Ford have been building a relationship even long before Yamaha began producing the engine for the Taurus SHO.
But Yamaha is best known for their SHO Taurus engines. . .so it would make a lot of sense that Yamaha and Ford would continue working on the rumored next generation Taurus SHO's engine. While that certainly makes the most sense, BlueOvalNews has seen Taurus documents up through 2003 and found NO listing for a Taurus SHO anywhere. We first thought that Ford really wanted to keep this ALL NEW engine top secret and therefore it wouldn't appear in the next generation Taurus' management book - but that wasn't the case. This all new engine wouldn't be for any Taurus SHO. . .at least not yet.
Maybe it's for some RADICAL new "Boss" Mustang. Wow - what if it's for the next generation Cobra Mustang? It's even been rumored that the 2001 or 2002 Cobra Mustang would be using some radial new power plant! But as Art Hyde said in a memo to Team Mustang members "The Mustang is notorious for leaks (31 Oct 98)", so we were skeptical to believe that some Mustang news could get past us. It didn't.
So then what's Yamaha doing meddling around at Ford's experimental engine lab if they are not building an engine for the Mustang or Taurus SHO?
They are building an engine for the MERCURY COUGAR! YEAH BABY!
BlueOvalNews can't go into detail about the engine's layout, size or when it's due out; however, we can tell you that the all new engine will appear in other Ford applications as well. The total story will appear on the new site that BlueOvalNews will be launching soon. COPYRIGHT 1999 WARNER PUBLICATIONS. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED BlueOvalNews.com |
